Lyndon Julien-Sehl is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Architecture, class of 2011. His professional experience is deep and diverse, having interned throughout college in civil engineering and architecture offices, before spending 4 years in Historic Preservation.
Lyndon's interests include investigating the implications of technology on, and the phenomenological aspects of, the human experience as they relate to architecture. He believes an architect should be captivated by "craft" and driven by well articulated concepts. He enjoys pretty much anything science fiction, everything with an internal combustion engine over the age of 20, mountains, forests, and lakes. His undergraduate thesis was entitled Technofuturism: Towards a Cyborg Ecology.
Lyndon is currently employed at a small, busy contemporary design practice in Brooklyn, NY where he is involved in all phases of a project from site investigation through CDs. He counts a solid exposure to CA , holistic thinking and robust creative problem solving skills among his more pragmatic charms.

As part of a small office, responsibilites are varied but include construction documents, client and consultant coordination, materials research, code research and review, LPC presentation materials, and DOB coordination.

John G. Waite Associates, Architects, New York, NY, US, Designer/CAD Technician
JGWA is an award-winning firm specializing in historic preservation and restoration of landmark quality buildings. Projects ranged from $750,000 to $1.8m. What started as a summer internship turned into 4 years of full time post-graduate employment at this well respected Historic Preservation firm.
Responsibilities included construction document creation and coordination through contract award, working directly with consultants and clients, attending and running client meetings and weekly construction meetings. Project work flow often entails writing existing conditions and Historic Structure reports, research, and diagramming.
This was an amazing opportunity to become familiar with professional practice, learn the absolute fundamentals of craft and enclosure, and build an intuitive appreciation for the role of architecture in humanity's story.

Kaaterskill Associates, Cairo, NY, US, CAD Technician
Lyndon worked with Kaaterskill Associates intermittently on summer and winter breaks while pursuing his degree. He worked directly with engineers, architects and surveyors on a variety of projects, ranging from single family to 50+ unit condominium developments.
Responsibilities included construction document production, design work, details, storm/waste water design, site work including site documentation, soil testing and construction observation.

While studying at RPI, Lyndon had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome, Italy. Lyndon was awarded the Harriet R. Peck Prize for his undergraduate thesis entitled Technofuturism: Toward a Cyborg Ecology.

This award is given by the faculty to the Final Project student with the most thoughtful integration of technology in a final project thesis.

This award is given to students, upon being selected by the Dean of the school, who are selected based on a portfolio submission.
