This design uses a curtain of CMU columns set on a sinuous perimeter to screen the interior, each column oriented towards a central locus. The effect is one of privacy and contemplation, slivers of light falling on the polished concrete floor. Sitting on a rise above the main complex, the cool shade imparted by the masonry screen and the mahogany and corrugated steel roof provide a comfortable place for both quiet prayer and community programs. The terraced seating carved into the hill provide a setting for larger meetings and events, as well as informal gatherings.
