Seamlessly integrating a neighbourhood-scale development into a vibrant Shanghai district
ITC Shanghai is a high-profile, mixed-use destination being developed within the well-known Xujiahui district.
Currently one of the largest sites under development in Shanghai’s city centre, the mega integrated scheme combines four plots of land and totals 700,000 sqm of development. The project will include grade-A offices, a premium retail mall and a luxury hotel, all with direct access to the Xujiahui metro station where three lines converge.
The future-looking design of this neighbourhood-scale scheme aims to seamlessly integrate into the already bustling shopping and entertainment quarter. The design concept physically stitches the new development with the surrounding local sites to set a new precedent for the district.
Integrating the large-scale destination into the existing urban fabric of the busy district is a series of elevated footbridges. A project in its own right, the network of footbridges connect the development to major commercial buildings and heritage sites nearby. The strategy will deliver a calm elevated plane purely for pedestrians to navigate the ITC Shanghai destination as well as the surrounding commercial, cultural and public attractions.
Lead8 is delivering a multi-disciplinary scope on this exciting mixed-use and transit-oriented development due to complete by late 2024.
