The studio is nestled in a densely forested site overlooking the main house and lake beyond. It is divided into two discrete spaces by a freestanding partition. An upper level is the work studio and the lower level is a gallery. Clerestory windows and an open beam ceiling are reminders of the artist's childhood home... a 1950s production house in the San Fernando Valley, California, designed by architect William Krisel. However, fenestration and overhangs are arranged in response to climate conditions including a long winter season.
