626 West Chicago Avenue is a 7,000 person capacity music venue with 330 residential apartment units. The music venue occupies the void created by the stacking of apartment units, which then comprise the venue’s wall and ceiling.

The apartment units step back along the river, facilitating views and exposure to northern light. In contrast, the building takes on a more traditional form along Chicago Avenue with residential, concert venue, and back-of-house space programs united under a single facade. Circulation spaces are used as a sonic air buffer between the two main programs. Their offset compliments a third programmatic element: a public plaza with cafes and concert queues.
