The Government of Whati Administration Building is a 600m2 addition in the small hamlet of Whati, NT. The existing building functioned as an informal gathering space for the community. People would hang out on the steps outside or go in & have a coffee. As such, we wanted to maintain the community “porch” vibe while creating a public “street” inside. The new council chambers were to feature a translation booth & also function as courtroom.
