Østerport 2

Østerport 2 has introduced an innovative office concept that transforms the mundane office corridor into an engaging facade resembling a gallery or balcony. Through a simple architectural design, all workspaces have been shifted away from the facade, providing a tranquil environment. This socially sustainable design allows everyone to enjoy views, daylight, and the energy of the surroundings, integrating the inner working life with city life.

The facade, designed as glass canopies in a dynamic dark red tone, changes throughout the day thus creating a shifting visual experience. Reflecting trees, neighboring buildings, and the activities of the forecourt, the facade becomes an integral part of the city landscape. It seamlessly transitions from city to shop, offering a modern interpretation of classic canopies that enhances urban life.

By repositioning the corridor facing the facade, the once dull passage has been transformed into a gallery. This strategic placement provides a mental break and connects occupants with the external city environment when moving between spaces. The corridor now functions as a socially sustainable design element, offering mental diversions and short breaks, contributing to overall work efficiency.

Rather than relying on designated break rooms, small free spaces are seamlessly integrated throughout the building. These spaces become part of the building's flow, offering occupants convenient areas for breaks and spontaneous meetings. An 800-meter-long touchdown zone along the windows provides uninterrupted panoramic views and serves as a versatile piece of furniture for relaxation and informal gatherings.

The design of Østerport 2 prioritizes good lighting conditions, eliminating the need for roller blinds. The sloping window sections, red canopies, and work zones set back from the facade enhance the indoor climate, prioritize natural light, and contribute to energy savings.

Situated at Oslo Plads amid vibrant city life, Østerport 2's architecture reflects the city's characteristics rather than drawing attention to itself. The color choices, style references, and mirrored facade seamlessly integrate the building with its surroundings. Despite the complex technical challenges associated with its location, Østerport 2 successfully embraces and enhances the dynamic urban environment.
