Fiberline Factory

The collaboration between Fiberline and Professor Jan Søndergaard of KHR Architects has produced a distinctive production and office facility that seamlessly blends practicality with architectural elegance. Serving as a landmark near Middelfart, the 300-meter-long combined production and administration building unites identity creation with optimal production flow and lighting conditions. Minimizing steel constructions, the architecture incorporates Fiberline's glass fiber in windows for maximum light penetration.

Drawing inspiration from Viking Age forts and modern processes, the architectural vision harmonizes organic and contemporary elements. The building, resembling a mound emerging from the landscape, integrates angular stair towers symbolizing creative thinking within disciplined production efficiency. Fenestration bands, inspired by glass fiber threads, contribute to the structure's distinctive aesthetic.

A fusion of the poetic and rational, the building intertwines with the landscape, weaving a historical narrative while projecting towards a "future space" for innovative processes. Influenced by the landscape's vertical movement, the architectural design introduces three fissures that invite daylight, fostering an ongoing interaction with the sky.

Aligning daily functionality with architectural appeal, the structure boasts a layout conducive to production efficiency, ample daylight, and a high roof space for employee well-being. Its transparency creates a sense of closeness and fellowship, with visible activities throughout.

Fiberline's commitment to environmental standards is evident, meeting Low Energy Class I specifications. The building minimizes noise impact and optimizes energy consumption for heating, lighting, and ventilation. The vision of an "energy+ factory" is pursued through sustainable sources, including a wind turbine and potential solar cells.

The layout supports efficient production, with dynamic storage defining room height. Production functions occupy the ground floor, while administrative, research, and market-related functions reside in a gallery forming the east-facing facade. The design fosters a varied working space illuminated by three large light slits, showcasing the light-reflecting glass threads integral to the production process. Fiberline is the result of a collaboration between a dedicated client, the architects, and the surrounding landscape.
