The Chemelot Campus is a redevelopment of the previous DSM chemical plant into a new campus for chemical research, education and business. The competition for a new central building was launched to bring together three different departments (Center Court, Academy and DSM Innovation Center).
The strength of the Center Court project is the ability to allow users to excel within an ecosystem of open-innovation. The building shows itself as a universal structure and a square to generate a constant visitors’ whirl.
The CCC is a solid structure with a patio and marked corner entrances to open up to the pedestrian flow. There is a 30 degrees plan rotation which breaks down the grid of the surroundings amplifying its public character.
The program of the project is divided within the ground floor through the atrium and three different floors, gradually changing from public to private. Offices, public spaces, restaurants, meeting rooms and laboratories are blended with equipment, structure, walls, stairs and elevators.
