This design is based on the Medieval idea that the work area is street level and living area on second floor.  Frank Lloyd Wright created a house with similar ideas in Oak Park, Illinois.  In this house there are two entries on two levels with two living rooms and two master suites.  Kitchen and Dining areas are shared on the second floor.

A second design using similar design goals, in a French traditional style, was designed and built in Austin, Texas.
