Barker Architecture Office (BAAO) is an internationally recognized firm located in Brooklyn, New York, dedicated to exploring spatial and material solutions that adapt to the changing dynamics between people and their built environments. Led by Alexandra Barker, FAIA, LEED AP, BAAO has undertaken a diverse array of projects in both the public and private sectors, including educational and retail spaces, new private residences, and interior designs, serving clients in New York, across the region, and globally. Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Architectural Project Manager with at least eight years of professional experience and a degree in architecture from an accredited program. While licensure is preferred, it is not mandatory. In this role, you will oversee one or more small to medium-sized projects, ensuring their success from inception to completion. As the main point of contact for clients and consultants, you will coordinate documents and information while monitoring budgets, schedules, and documentation. You will collaborate with team members to produce the necessary deliverables throughout the design and construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage one or more small to mid-sized projects, coordinating all administrative and technical aspects.
  • Prepare strategic plans for project success and ensure cost-effective execution.
  • Serve as the primary client and consultant liaison, managing project communications, budgets, schedules, and scope of work.
  • Assign project tasks to team members and oversee office administrative tasks related to projects.

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program.
  • Eight or more years of professional experience, with proven project management skills.
  • Licensure preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively communicate with clients and team members.
  • Proficiency in project management software desired and proficiency with AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, Google Suite, and other design software required.
  • Experience with construction administration processes, including submittals, RFIs, site meetings, punch-list, and project closeout.
  • Experience managing budgets, fees, contracts, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of employees, clients, consultants, and vendors.
  • Experience with Historic / Landmarks Preservation Commission projects a plus.
  • Experience in New York City and familiarity with Building Codes and NYC Zoning Resolution a plus.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $95,000 to $120,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Generous PTO policy.
  • 50% firm contribution toward health insurance.
  • 3% Simple IRA match.
