JFA is a growing contemporary design firm located in downtown Brooklyn, New York that specializes in new construction and renovation of commercial, residential and mixed-use buildings. We are currently seeking a full time "Project Captain" with NYC experience to join our seasoned team of designers.
Required Skills:
- The Project Captain will work in a team overseeing project design, construction & project administration, while mentoring junior staff. And will be under the direction of a Project Manager and Senior Managers.
- Knowledgeable of codes and regulations including ADA, NYC Building Code, NYC Zoning, NYCECC, NYC Plumbing Code, NYC Mechanical Code, NYC Fire Code.
- Proficient in reviewing DOB objections and maintaining Building Code, the client’s preferences, and design intent.
- Excellent drafting skills. Must be able to balance drafting, project management and coordination.
- Manage consultants on building projects including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, expeditors, lighting, and acoustical consultants.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, ensuring project correspondence is documented, and preparing meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
- Perform Quality Assurance reviews of drawing sets.
- Proficient in Construction Administration and documentation, such as RFIs, ASIs, submittal of drawing reviews, and familiarity with CSI Divisions.
- Experience with AIA Contracts and Project Schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Architecture required; Masters Preferred. 4-year Bachelor of Architectural Science may be considered.
- 3-6 years architectural work experience, minimum 2 years in Project Coordination, or Management.
- Proficient in CADD, Revit, InDesign, Photoshop, and 3D computer modeling software.
- Complex problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Flexibility in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Proficiency in NYC building code, NYC Energy Code, NYC Zoning Resolutions, NYC Department of Buildings filing processes, and ADA code knowledge.
- Experience in Interior Design is a plus.
