Founded in 1979, Cooper Robertson is a dynamic and diverse midsize office that integrates architecture and urban design across all scales, from individual buildings to campuses and city districts. The firm’s work includes design of new buildings, adaptive reuse, as well as cultural, campus, and urban planning. Recent projects include the Gateway Arch Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Studio Museum in Harlem, Drury University Business School, Princeton University Art Museum, Getty Trust Long-Range Space Plan, George Washington University Master Plan, and Edible Academy at the New York Botanical Garden.

We are seeking a highly motivated, diligent, and detail-oriented Intermediate Cultural Planner with proven experience working in an atmosphere of exploration, collaboration, and design. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and subject-area expertise in museum projects and a commitment to engaging with the cultural work we do.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a partner, provide a day-to-day leadership role in the management of cultural project programming, research, visioning, and master planning
  • Conduct analyses of long-term institutional needs and develop solutions for new facilities and the renovation and expansion of existing facilities
  • Develop presentations and reports that synthesize complex, data-heavy information into clear and compelling visual and verbal narratives
  • Contribute to the design process beginning with early concepts, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of designers and consultants
  • Actively support the development of budgets, scopes of work, and management of project schedules
  • Assist in proposal submissions, including assembling teams, writing narratives, developing graphic layouts, as well as attending interviews
  • Engage in firm-wide design discussions and research initiatives

Requirements

  • 3 or more years’ experience focusing on cultural projects and architectural programming, master planning, and design
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Graphics Suite, and Microsoft Office with outstanding graphic, organization, and design skills
  • Fluent in the English language, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional architectural degree required with advanced architectural degree a plus
  • Architectural licensure or active participation in AXP preferred
