Position title: Intermediate Interior Designer

Position purpose:  The Designer works closely in collaboration with the Senior Designer & Principal to translate their aesthetic vision into client presentations and embody the culture of the studio. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

Design: 

  • Research and develop furniture plans, custom furnishing designs and material schemes that match the client's aesthetic, functional goals and budget.

  • Assist Senior Designers on the design and development of all projects; create drawings, boards, fabric schemes and any relevant items for client presentations

  • Research and source furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallpapers and interior finishes within project budget and aesthetic

  • Manage item specifications and Construction Schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes

  • Coordinate vendor and installer site visits, workroom visits, and in-person meeting to ensure successful project deliverables. 

  • Ensure the project file is updated with all item tear sheets, customization notes, specifications and drawings

  • Interface with Project Manager to manage item expediting process (vendor to warehouse), adhere to project deadlines 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Oversees multiple deadlines, project scopes and aesthetics simultaneously. 

  • Manage accurate and timely Client Order and Purchase Order pricing data.

  • Oversee accurate project action item lists in studio project management system.

Personnel/Human Resources responsibilities: 

  • Efficiently work with Junior Designers and Interns on multiple projects; demonstrate strong communications skills

  • Participate in the training and development and review of Junior Designers and Interns

  • Participates in all studio culture building initiatives

Business Development: 

  • Assist with photoshoot coordination, sourcing, styling and onsite facilitation as delegated by Principal Designer

  • Maintain existing, and grow new, vendor contacts and relationships.  

  • Attend industry events, trade shows and openings

Client Management: 

  • Attend client meetings

  • Responsible for approval of Client Order and vendor Purchase Order paperwork prior to client and vendor submission. 

  • Manage Client Order design and pricing package submission

  • Oversee project installation scheduling and coordination

  • Oversee accurate and within-budget design time hours for self

  • Maintain and grow professional relationships with clients and vendors

  • Create solutions and communicate with clients and colleagues in a timely manner and in the appropriate tone of the studio culture. 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Degree in Interior Design 

  • Minimum of 3 years interior design experience

  • Provide top-level innovative design concepts

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including space planning, hand and digital drafting

  • Extensive experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials, and finishes.

  • Experience with managing purchasing and budgets

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

  • Work under pressure, produce deliverables and meet deadlines

  • Experience managing design staff on project teams 

Pay rate:  Salaried, with benefits beginning after 1 month.  Annual salary commensurate with experience to be determined.

Benefits: 10 days of Paid Time Off annually plus the office is closed between Christmas and New Year’s; access, with contributions, to company Health Insurance, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401k with employer match, Commuter Benefits, and Summer Fridays.

Covid work protocol:  As of October 2021, each member of the office is working in the office Mondays - Thursdays and remotely on Fridays.  The office is following social distancing guidelines, monitoring of health conditions, and wearing of PPE.
