Position Overview:  The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, seeks an individual to serve as Program Director of Master of Professional Studies – Healthcare Interior Design.  The Program Director of the MPS program serves in student recruitment, and as the “content expert” and public face of the Healthcare Interior Design program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the outward face of the program to the practitioner community, including media and organizations; participate in the creation of promotional or marketing materials, as needed
  • Attend college events as required, including Open Houses and orientations
  • Review of application materials and portfolios in coordination with the Office of Admissions; participate in National Portfolio Days and other recruitment activities as necessary
  • Meet and promptly communicate with prospective students
  • Prepare and lead two Program Advisory Board meetings per year
  • Be the content/curriculum expert in this area of design specialization; participate in curricular review; coordinate with faculty to ensure consistent course content
  • Assist as required in creating the part time or online curriculum and on-campus weeks for online students
  • Review of course/faculty evaluations and mentoring of current instructors
  • Review and recommend faculty candidates for re-appointment; review of CV’s for new faculty, and for current instructors seeking additional assignments, and advising the VPAA/Dean of same
  • Hold a minimum of one faculty meeting before each semester or summer session, and one additional during, if necessary
  • Teach 0-4 courses per academic year as directed by the VPAA/Dean
  • Participate as a member of the Academic Council and attend all meetings
  • All other duties as required


Master’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or Master of Architecture or related degree, and an NCIDQ Certificate holder preferred.  Higher education experience preferred.  Minimum of two years of professional healthcare interior design experience, or five years of teaching experience in healthcare interior design or a combination of teaching and professional experience is required.  Must be highly organized and possess good communication and customer service skills.    

This is a 1-year appointment for the 2021-22 academic year, with the possibility of renewal.  6.0 hours per week (average) administration; teaching hours additional.
