SHoP Architects is a world-renowned, innovative architecture firm located in downtown Manhattan. We are currently seeking an Associate with interior construction administration experience.

Job Purpose/

Candidates must have demonstrated proficiency in design, construction documentation, and construction administration, with specialized expertise in the area of interior finishes and millwork. We are seeking a talented individual with the ability to work both independently in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a project team.

 Job Duties/

  • Visit job sites and attend project meetings during construction, respond to requests for information, review and comment on shop drawings and other submittals.
  • Assist in the review of the progress of the work of consultant architects, fabricators, and other architectural personnel to ensure the drawings and specifications are properly coordinated.
  • Assist in the coordination of a project’s design with specifications, details and schedules.
  • Check and review drawings and specifications prepared by consultants, including architects, engineers, lighting designers, and others, including structural design calculations, for conformance with prescribed standards.
  • Communicate closely with specialty trades, including millworkers and metal fabricators to ensure that work is fully coordinated with other elements and is in keeping with design intent.

Skills + Qualifications/

  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques and building codes.
  • Ability to translate complex designs into clear, concise details and construction documents.
  • Proficiency in 3D Modeling such as Revit and Rhino, Rendering using mental ray or vRay, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Experience in high end office and workplace interiors preferred.

Education/

  • Completion of four-year (minimum) undergraduate professional degree in architectural or interior design.
  • 4+ years of related experience preferred; 3 years minimum related experience required.
