We are seeking a full time Contracts Attorney to join our Legal Team, supporting our General Counsel and Managing Director in our New York Office.

Our Legal Team works closely with our colleagues in Europe to help share knowledge and experience and collaborates on developing global company initiatives.
As a Contracts Attorney, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Managing our contracts team and negotiating contractual terms with our clients, consultants, vendors and other parties
  • Preparing, reviewing, editing and manage contract documents
  • Leading contract processes for reviews, approvals and hand-overs involving our internal stakeholders, including our Operations Teams and Project Leaders, and drive the external communication with clients, consultants and outside counsel
  • Providing support to our Operations Teams, Business Development and Project Leaders in managing projects
  • Developing and maintaining standards and procedures for risk management, including interpreting and understanding contracts to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, local and national laws
  • Participating in internal education programs to create awareness in protecting BIG's assets
  • Managing day-to-day legal issues and duties to ensure corporate compliance, including oversight of licensing and business registration and insurance requirements, certificates of insurance management, and general corporate duties

We seek a person who: 

  • Has a Juris Doctorate degree and holds a license to practice law in the State of New York
  • Enjoys reading the fine print and understands the ramifications thereof
  • Has experience in a similar position within the construction/architectural industry and is familiar with construction-related contracts, especially AIA contract documents
  • Has 3-4 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts either in-house or at a law firm
  • Is organized, structured and both big-picture-savvy and detail-oriented
  • Is proactive and completes tasks with a sense of urgency, capable of multi-tasking responsibilities that often vary in scale and scope
  • Is a self-starter and has self-confidence and persistence, is confident with decision making and is comfortable with fast-paced decisions and rapidly changing environments
  • Feels that no administrative task is too little or too great
  • Speaks English fluently, and is professional on the phone, in e-mails and in person; other languages are a bonus
