Located on Union Square, AYON Studio Architecture • Preservation, P.C. (AYON Studio) provides comprehensive professional services in the fields of Architecture and Historic Preservation. We are service-focused. We devise sustainable solutions that ensure future viability and create value. We are currently seeking a Project Architect / Project Manager to join the firm.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include developing and managing a variety of institutional and residential projects that may include a combination of building conservation (exterior building envelope repairs), adaptive reuse (interior and exterior alterations) and/or rehabilitation (interior alterations) of existing buildings. The position requires working directly with the firm's Principal to establish design criteria, ensure compliance with zoning and building codes, and track project quality and conformance with the client's program, budget, schedule and expectations. Other responsibilities include overseeing the development of existing conditions assessments and preparation of Construction Documents for regulatory filing, review and approval; communicating professionally, thoroughly and articulately with clients, consultants and staff; managing project team and team members’ workload; as well as monitoring project finances and schedule to ensure on budget and on time deliverables.

Qualifications

An understanding of historic materials and assemblies, as well as their decay pattern and the ability to detail and specify the required repairs is required. Experience with renovation projects is also required, including submission to, and approval by NYC LPC and DOB. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment coupled with substantial experience in all aspects of Construction Administration, including site observations; managing contractor submittals and RFIs is essential. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while responding timely to deadlines is expected. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven applicant with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage in-house production while focusing on clients' needs. The ideal candidate would have an architectural degree and/or a M Sc in Historic Preservation or related field, as well as a minimum of 10-15 years of previous experience working at an architectural office. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office is required. Architectural registration (a license or completion of most of the ARE exams) is a must.
