Artist Lauren Bon is looking for an Architectural Assistant to be part of the implementation of Bending the River Back Into the City. This infrastructure project is in its seventh year of planning, and construction will begin in 2020. The Architectural Assistant will work directly with Lauren Bon and our civil engineer to help realize this project.

Candidates must have experience making architectural models and drawings by hand, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and Illustrator. Our approach to this project is to create as little waste as possible, so knowledge of sustainable design practices is an advantage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Lauren Bon and our civil engineer to translate ideas into visual and physical representations
  • Creating architectural models across a range of scales and materials
  • Drafting and preparing architectural drawings, site plans and maps
  • Managing a digital portfolio of architectural documents for use by other studio members
  • Working with our archivist to document and archive the project
  • Working with and managing relationships with both creative and technical consultants
  • Coordinating and collaborating with our in-house studio and Bending the River team


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled at making architectural models by hand
  • Skilled at drawing and hand-drafting
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Carpentry, design-build experience, and digital 3D modeling skills a plus
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices a plus
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus
