Gene Kaufman Architect PC is seeking an Intermediate Architect to join our office located in the Union Square area.   

Gene Kaufman Architect PC has over thirty years specializing in hospitality projects, urban developments, notably multi-family housing; adaptive reuse; new buildings for residential, commercial and institutional use; high rises; modular building; student housing; and schools.  GKA is seeking a talented and self-motivated candidate.  This is an excellent, hands-on opportunity for the right applicant who will benefit greatly from being involved in all aspects of a dynamic environment. The applicant must be skilled and eager to become involved in all phases of the design and construction process, as well as general office operations and overall procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop drawings and taking on technical issues with Project Managers and Associates
  • NYC DOB Code and zoning analysis
  • Production of drawings without requiring constant supervision
  • Site visits and surveys
  • Construction Administration

Requirements include:

  • Understands building material and systems and has strong detailing experience.
  • 3 + years of experience in hospitality related projects with work samples demonstrating such experience.
  • Familiarity with New York City and surrounding areas
  • Drawing production, CAD work
  • Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively and clearly communicate with other members of the project team.
  • Has general understanding of NYC DOB codes and zoning
  • Bachelor of Architecture degree or equivalent is required
  • Has knowledge of building construction
  • Previous construction administration experience is a plus
  • Graphic Design experience is a plus
