Right now, some of our largest and most complex adaptive-reuse projects are moving into new phases, and we’re looking for a tech-minded architect or architectural designer who is obsessed with building and optimizing workflows.

The Design Technology Manager’s primary responsibility is to establish and maintain product and protocols for design teams to produce computer-aided work in an efficient, unified manner. The Design Technology Manager’s primary role is to interact with, evaluate, develop, and maintain resources, workflows and associated supportive content to bridge between software and disciplinary methods under the supervision of the responsible Director. They will assist in ensuring that day-to-day production at a team level is also supported as defined by various Project Managers.

The Design Technology Manager position is a support and development role and will be called upon to serve as a studio resource each day. The position is ideal for a flexible and proactive candidate with demonstrated interests and experience with office standards improvement. In addition, they must be well versed in technology common to the architectural industry, including Revit file development, as billable project time can be expected when appropriate, tightly scoped tasks align with the tech manager’s workflow.  For this reason the successful candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skills, as their day to day will involve interfacing with multiple projects and team members within the office.

Qualified candidates should have a working understanding of Architectural practices including project development phasing and Construction documentation, coupled with a strong desire and proven track record for establishing efficiency in the BIM/CAD tool sets and IT systems. They should also be well versed in technology common to the architectural industry, including Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Suite.

  • BIM/CAD Workflow Evaluation and Recommendation

  • Software Implementation

  • Content and Template Creation and Maintenance

  • Company-specific Workflow Development and Implementation

  • Software/Workflow/Resource Training

  • Project Specific BIM Plan Development and Conformance Review

  • Company Standards Documentation and Distribution

  • BIM/CAD Library Maintenance

  • Hardware Recommendation

  • Project Support

  • General IT Troubleshooting and Support

Secondary Functions include:

  • Project File Directory Archiving and Maintenance

  • Software Deployment and Workstation Set-Up

  • Software License Purchasing

  • Software Maintenance

  • Project Specific Work

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, with attention to detail

  • Clear vision and appreciation of the goals of the company and ability to imbue it in their daily work

  • Coding skills for Dynamo scripting (Revit API a plus)

  • Interface with Autodesk and Bluebeam to suggest workflow enhancements

  • Examine project scopes in an understandable way with clear logic

  • Recognize and be responsive to the needs of the company’s client base, which includes equity firms, real estate developers, real estate brokers, property owners, tenants, etc.

  • Serve as a team player and collaborator in a dynamic work atmosphere, ensuring positive flow of communication

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Clear vision and appreciation of the goals of the company and ability to imbue it in their daily work

  • Strong command of latest versions of software, specifically Windows 10, MacOS Catalina, Parallels Desktop for Mac, Revit, Dynamo, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, the Adobe product suite, Excel and the MS Office suite

  • Strong leadership and professional development skills

  • Strong reviewing and critiquing skills

Compensation is commensurate with experience (starting at $60,000) and includes a benefit package with health insurance coverage. Dental and Vision optional. 401K including up to 4% employer match after one year of employment.
