We like to call this Project Management position the RAC Air Traffic Controller (RATC).  The RATC has diverse experience including architectural practice, construction and general contracting, fabrication and critical path management. The RATC is expected to act in a highly proactive and independently motivated manner and to utilize advanced techniques and tools for organizing and motivating productivity, including active scheduling software and excellent interpersonal skills.

Supervision of the RATC is mainly concerned with overall project commitment performance. The RATC will be included in the formation of commitments and will share established objectives, critical project decision drivers to assist internal and external team members adapt effectively and economically.

RATC tracks incoming office tasks internally, coordinates with RAC principles and project managers, participates in project formation, schedules and prioritizes production, facilitates team adherence to outgoing scheduled project deliverables and excels in succinct and timely communication. Specific expectations include, but are not limited to:

In-Coming Traffic:

  • Work with RAC principles and project managers to understand project scopes, timelines, budgets, plan for internal and external resources to effectively perform required services, schedule reasonable delivery schedules, adhere to limits of service, manage internal schedules to ensure orderly performance of responsibilities
  • Maintain connection with project teams to confirm receipt of tasks, forecast productivity and confirm and communicate reasonable deliverables


  • Maintain and communicate working project schedules and outlines of tasks for project team.
  • Work with the Managing Partner and Design Principal to establish appropriate adjustments to RAC’s contract responsibilities, deliverables + timing throughout the life of our projects.
  • Communicate as clearly internally as externally regarding the project roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure RAC is promoting overall project performance
  • Lead internal and external teams to meet common goals on time by facilitating timely input and decision-making regarding the design and construction document production of projects
  • Steady and succinct communication with recipients of RAC deliverables
  • Timely deliverable tracking
  • Confirmation deliverables are received and in order.

Out-Bound Traffic:

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of firm projects and resources.
  • Promote a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Carry-out directions and assignments with limited oversight.
  • Carry out novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Meet task and project deadlines.
  • Communicate succinct expectations to others
  • Comfortable and continuous follow-up to ensure expectations are on track
  • Inform Design Principal and Managing Partner of potential project conflicts and/or emerging issues.
