The Strategy team at LaPlaca Cohen is a creative, rigorous, nimble team, who is committed to ensuring the enduring relevance of culture in the 21st century, and its powerful impact on ever-changing and diversifying audiences. Our work ranges from messaging and naming strategies and leadership workshops, to brand activation plans and ongoing cultural audience and trend research. 

Strategist

The Strategist will be an integral member of a small Strategy team, while also serving a vital interdepartmental role – both of which require enthusiastic teamwork, adventurous thinking, and powerful writing, research, and presentation skills. We are dedicated to expansive, multidisciplinary, collaborative solutions, so we welcome applicants from all disciplines and backgrounds who could make a powerful contribution to our work. 

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead and/or support a selection of the Strategy Department’s client projects, which can include any of the following scopes of work: messaging and naming strategies, mission and vision statement development, leadership workshops, strategic planning, audience development strategies, stakeholder interviews, peer benchmarking studies, etc. 
  •  Assist in developing firm-wide thought leadership initiatives, which can include strategies for presenting and disseminating our work in creative ways, spearheading interdisciplinary workshops and dialogues, identifying strategic partnerships, researching tactics for reaching changing audiences, and identifying new ways of activating our work in order to ensure impact. 
  •  Participate in our continued work on Culture Track, the largest national tracking study of the behaviors and trends of U.S. cultural consumers, and identify opportunities for the development of the study, and for follow up studies and conferences. Requirements: We are dedicated to expansive, multidisciplinary, collaborative solutions, so we welcome applicants from all disciplines and backgrounds who could make a powerful contribution to our work. 
  •  Inspired, creative, rigorous, outside-the-box thinking. 
  • Exceptional leadership, presentation, writing, research, and communications skills. 
  • Dedication to and passion for the cultural and creative world, whether that be visual arts, public space, design, performing arts, and/or architecture. 
  • Experience in architecture and design preferred. 
  •  B.A. required, and graduate degree preferred. • 5-10 years of full-time professional experience. 
  • Multidisciplinary background (preference for those who have deep knowledge of a selection of the following fields: entrepreneurial business, brand strategy, visual arts, public space, performing arts, architecture and design, graphic design, consulting, website and social media strategy, marketing, advertising, digital strategy, market research). 
  • Knowledge of KeyNote and Adobe InDesign is a plus. 

 Logistics: 

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience. 
  • July/August 2017 start date.
