The project consisted in creating an exhibition and convention center that incorporates a hotel building and a chamber of commerce in the city of Toluca, Mexico.
Architecture differs fundamentally from other arts because of its spatiality. Symmetry in a two-dimensional composition is relatively straightforward. In the case of architecture, we move through it as well. This means that architecture provides us with a special opportunity to experience symmetry as well as to see it. Yet today's expressionist fashion demands architectural asymmetry at any cost. That's a shame, since architects sacrifice one of their art's most powerful tools. The project is settled in a symmetrical manner to achieve optimum performance from each of its elements as part of a complex.
It was conceived as a massive but open element incorporating semi-covered and uncovered spaces, which in turn are part of the city. A monumental scale project that changes the environment amending urban influences.
