As part of an international design competition focused on large-scale housing for an aging population in Seoul, South Korea, our work for this studio looked at the courtyard typology. The driving concept behind the design was to explode the traditional double-loaded corridor housing block into two unique housing “rings” separated in the middle by a large light well. The more traditional exterior ring was complimented by a more celebrated interior ring.
