Lead by professor Tsz Yan Ng, the focus of this project was to create a full scale horizontal surface with an emphasis on innovative connection techniques. In addition to the final installation’s ability to suspend ten feet above the ground, we were asked to use only the material itself to attach each piece, no outside pins or connectors.
Stalactites focuses on a series of truncated pyramidal shapes which, when aggregated, create a surface of varied heights and appearances. Each unit is equipped with a combination of male and female tabs which allow for their aggregation.
