Singapore Management University, City Campus

The USD 310 millions, 1.23 million sqf city campus of the Singapore Management University is located on a 11.12 acres site, at the fringe of the central business district and Orchard Road shopping precinct. The design threads an all-weather sunken basement concourse that wraps around an urban park and at the same time links up all the 4 schools and library with the subway station.

The project unifies the various schools that are separated by urban arterial roads with a framework of kits of parts that retain the distinct identity of the varsity while allowing individual expressions. It also attempts to relate to the mixed bag of modern glass offices blocks, classical expressions of colonial buildings like National Museum, neo-classical MPH Building engaging in a visual dialogue.

It was awarded Singapore BCA Greenmark Gold, local equivalent of LEED or BREAM certification.
