Inward facing and dark, the existing house was cramped and poorly utilised. Our clients’ driving concern was to bring light through the depth of the house and create new views out to the lush south-facing garden. The whole ground floor was opened up. A new flow of interlocking spaces pivots around the central existing, characterful stair.

On the first floor we took a light touch approach to the bedrooms, updated the bathroom, and created a new bed deck for the youngest child, adding valuable floorspace to their small room.

The clients wanted a home that their young family could live in for the next ten years and beyond. Our refurbishment of their Grade II listed home, with a new ground floor extension and a new loft conversion, gave the family space to grow on a tight budget.
