51 Hills Road for Jesus College, Cambridge University, provides high-quality, exemplary commercial accommodation on a site in the centre of Cambridge
The project demonstrates Gort Scott’s use of innovative design and building technologies to create
a highly sustainable building that responds to its historic urban context in a bold yet sensitive manner. It learns respectfully from its neighbours but also has a distinct identity that is not compromised by the onerous planning requirements of the Conservation Area and listed buildings on three sides. The scheme is part of the College’s long-term property portfolio and will serve as a lasting asset.
The building is the ‘greenest’ office building in Cambridge, achieving BREEAM Excellent and follows British Council for Offices (BCO) standards. Since completion, it has won a series of awards including a RIBA National, RICS East Commercial and BCO Award.
