no - not good enough - it needs the words "journey" or "exploration" and some kind of new-agey dream-catcher buzzword.
like:
ethereal wanderings: A journey through time
teardropz and rainboze: an architecteral exploration - (rainboze should have a different color for each letter)
and make sure you misspell at least one word in the title (especially if it has anything to do with "architecture") - and it should be in some kind of script font or comic sans. and you need a photo of a famous building where you applied an obvious photoshop "artistic" effect.
seriously - just put your name and the degree you are applying to - some schools will even tell you what they want.
Use some words that 90% of the population will have to look up in the dictionary. And even then 88% won't understand them. But don't use them in their normal context, make up an entirely new definition that in some BS way relates to architecture. Best to steal words from other disciplines and find some half-ass way to relate them to your designs.
"Phenomenology of View: A Schism of Space from Multiple Perspectives", for example.
I just made that shit up, but it sounds fucking interesting, doesn't it? If I saw that book on the shelf, I'd think that person must be pretty fucking smart. And, if they love what's inside your portfolio, by the end they won't even remember what it was called, much less what it means, and if they hate your portfolio, well, who the fuck cares then?
I've barely started my latest portfolio, but for now I think I'm going with, My Name:Portfolio
@toasterstrudel, the first two or three times I saw your post I thought you wrote "rainbooze" and I was all excited for multi-colored alcohol. Now I'm disappointed.
is it dumb to put a title on your portfolio?
I am in the process of making a portfolio for graduate admissions and I was wondering is it stupid to put a title ?
what do you guys think?
is your name, "architecture portfolio",
good enough?

If you are at a loss for an inspiring portfolio title, look no further than a prog. rock album cover.
I think Rush , Yes, and maybe Dream Theater will get you started.
but seriously, I don't think most people put anything besides their name on it.
damn
my title was going to be "ARCHITECTURE PAWNZ NOOBZ"

Taste the Rainbow, bitches.
How about:
VYAN: Early Work.
Assuming there will be just “work” followed by “late work” once you have hit it big.
kidding. The simpler the better.
@Schlitz08: rainbooze!
vyan - you forgot the Z on "architecturez" ... and a picture of a kitten.
iheartbooks: how about three portfolios - early work, work work, late work and a little pamphlet that is "much later work" that you send a week later.
Some schools require one.
My title was "A collection of works, by ..."
I got into some grad schools so my title must not have sucked too bad.
Pabst08: The Early, Early Work
What about "Accept my application or bear the consequences"
how about " My Bitches "
jaja
"As seen on TV"!
I think quotes:
"Hilarious" (the new york times)
"5 stars" (the guardian)
"an interstitial romp" (some academic)
Your title should have some of the following qualities:
Use [brackets]
Use parantheses "architectu(re port)folio" to annoyingly emphasize an unrelated word or prefix within a word.
caPITAlize in odd places.
Use : or / or _ at least once.
Example:
Design_portFolio by [Vyan]
^ hahaha i like that
The sarcasm here is overwhelming, I love it.
Mine is: G. Habash- Portfolio of Work
portfolio by :________________
in regards to :_______________
need funds for : ______________
VYAN: the complete works
Volume 1
or,
VYAN: an architectural seduction
Forward by A. Vidler
the possibilities are endless....
mine's titled ''.folio'' .. thats it haha
modifying architerp's slightly:
Design_portFolio / [Vyan]
how about "Vow of Poverty"?
I never titled mine for grad school admission. But that's just me.
I'm not really into buzzwords or any of that kinda thing.
I just put captions and titled some of the pages that dealt with certain mediums (i.e Expressionist Paintings," "Drawings" etc...)
How about A decade of Awesome: Vyan conquers the world
Starchitect: Early Works
"selected works"
urbanist, hahahhaha
What about the obligatory | or //
"Steal this Portfolio"
"" Good stuffs here open pls --> ""
"Before you open, put on some sunglasses, or the light might burn your eyeballs out of their sockets"
"Best if seen after a cold Red Bull"
"My blue period"
