GSAPP summer program

aj24

Is the summer Introduction to Architecture program at GSAPP a worthwhile experience for a person already holding a B.arch?

I am looking to reapply to grad school next year and wondered if doing the program would help expand/improve my portfolio?

The feedback on other threads mainly seems to be from people without a previous architecture background. I'd love to hear what the experience was like for someone who already had an undergrad in arch or some previous arch exp....

I actually found it to be quite beneficial. At the time, I had 4 years experience and was about to begin my fifth year. The irony is that of the 12 people in my section, I had the second least experience. Most of the other students were finished w/ school and working. Four were already in Grad School at Arizona State. In addition to the experience factor was the distance people traveled to do the program. I was also one of the closest to NYC by way of Atlanta. We had students coming from Florida, Arizona, Texas, Spain, Korea, and Japan. I have to mention, however that I was apart of the Advanced studio studying under Danielle Smoller (Current Dean of Admissions). No matter who you study under, you will have an opportunity to see if you love this discipline or hate it. For the few I met, it was the former!
