I actually didn't say it as if it were a meal ticket. I said it as one possible example of something to do if one had the time.

Perhaps you should go learn it too.

don't sit around and get bored, time will fly by and then you will look back and ask yourself what you did in the past few months. If you do learn a software or something like that, at least you will feel better that you didn't waste your time. It by no means is a ticket to get a job, but at least you are doing something productive.

Things too keep him busy would have been go to the museum, read a good book, watch an entire season on dvd, but he needs a job and was pretty vague about it, so anything goes.
