What does Eduardo Souto de Moura means on this interview?

piero1910

I found this interview with Eduardo Souto de Moura. http://www.strelka.com/blog_en/eduardo-souto-de-moura-architects-are-responsible-not-only-for-what-they-do-but-also-for-what-they-could-have-done-and-didnt/?lang=en

I thought that It was very interested everything he said on it but I got a little confused when he starts to describe the why he admires exactly those architects who are Siza, Herzog and de Meuron, Moneo and Jean Nouvel. The part that He describes what he admires H&dM is what it got a me a little bit confused. When he says this: "In the 20-30 years that I’ve known him, he’s taught me one thing — to combine local traditions with modern drafting technology, modern materials and modern paint. His buildings have both a modern form and a local character." What does he mean with modern drafting technology?
