Anyone up for starting a "super architecture firm" for all struggling, unemployed architects and designers?

AquillatheNun

We could be like the "death star" of design firms! Underbid every other firm. Develop our own problems and projects and stay employed and vital. The firms that wouldn't respond when we sent them our sweet resumes would be in tears as we crush them all! We would then have the last laugh! We could dedicate it to Archinect and call it "Archinect: the destroyer of worlds and fillers of starving tummies"! Cut throat baby! It is a dog-eat-dog world or so they say.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

As Jack Nicholson states in The Bucket List, "We can do this. We should do this!"

so.. lemme get this straight. Your proposal is to ruin things for the rest of us, who are lucky enough to still have our jobs...

Cool. um.. oh. huh...ugh ;-)

I aint got time to worry about my fellow man, the world is about to end! I gotta go get right with God and destroy other architecture firms on my way out!

Urbanist: What's even more interesting is that an admitted thief and stealer, and attempted seller, of other people's intellectual property is looking here for partners in a new firm ... now, that's an interesting business model.

He sounds like a good partner-- cutthroat, insane and a cheat!

Someone promote this man to upper management immediately.

Urbanist - for the longest time, I thought this turkey was just operating as an agent provocateur ... now, I'm starting to think he really believes this crap he's spewing.

babs, I'd go with your first hypothesis: provocateur troll.

Talking about some bizarre MVRDV concept, which he brought up based on completely missing the point of my choice of graphic (on a previous thread): "Awesome thought processes! Kick ass!"

Comment on the Haiti thread: "Architecture for Humanity is the shit man! Awesome, simply awesome"

There is simply no way this guy's for real.

Ya'll who are still working should realize that your firm is very strong and very fortunate. Aquilla, you should realize this too. It will be VERY hard to beat out these firms. They're the alligators and sharks of the architecture world.

Dude, no way! The MVRDV thing is wicked cool! You really should check it out Urbanist. It is in their book KM3. These "solar shades" sort of orbit in the atmosphere like satellites. And maybe if you would have posted something other than a random hurricane image I would have managed to read a little bit deeper into that cranium of yours.

how are you going to let a developer invest in you for a 500 million dollars project when you don't have an office and reputation?

unless you are a friend with Obama, i don't know how your idea can work.

Hawk, tell a developer that he can sell units a 3.5 times the value per square foot, pre-sell them two years in advance (thanks to cheap chinese renders) through direct financing, advise him to bundle all the pre-sales up into a security and then use the security as collateral to borrow the 5 billion to building 9 more penis shaped buildings!

build 9 more*

Oh yeah... sell off and liquidate the company halfway into the third building, take the money and run to a different country, forward calls from all your contractors and architects to a non-working phone numbers and repeat!

speaking of renderings to China, no offense world power but let us do a little something I mean they have architects in China too are we gonna outsource everything where americans do absolutely nothing?

how are we ever gonna get cheaper and faster if they never let us do them

The sad thing is that one doesn't have to outsource renderings to China anymore. For $400-500 you can now have a fairly high quality rendering done by a talented domestic architect-temp willing to come in and work on your equipment, to your standards in your office. There's more too about the terms under which those renderings can now be done, but I don't anyone to feel bad reading this.

urbanist I wish you would let all these corporate firms know this cause they speak so highly of the renderings from China

Which large corporates outsource exclusively or even primarily to China? Don't tell me SOM's given up on monopolizing Schaller's time.

Unicorn. That sounds like what's happening to the wall street and how intern architects are now willing to pay $50,000/yr to get a job.
you have it all figure out.
