Looking for a CAD survey map of Tokyo

TickerTocker

Hello,

Would anyone happen to know where I might download a City Plan/Survey Plan/Map of portions of Tokyo? I want a CAD drawing as a site plan and model base, and I'm not sure where to find one. I don't mind paying for the data. The only resource I've come across so far is this one: http://net.jmc.or.jp/digital_data_cad_dtpmap.html

Unfortunately, I don't understand Japanese, so I'm not sure how that works. So would anyone know of an alternative in English?

Cheers.

why would you expect one in english? almost nobody speaks english in japan. what possible use could they have for such a thing?

that map looks pretty good to me if you need that much detail. the japanese is just place names and not important to the actual drawing as long as you know the area you are working in...

if not why not just use google map. its pretty close. certainly close enough for student work like you are doing. and it is possible to do a search in engish too. if you need high detail vector drawing just save as jpeg and convert in illustrator to vector or else trace it in cad. it shouldn't take that long.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant a website that has an English version, so that I could navigate to a map. I don't need the map itself to be in English. But anyway, thanks for the help.

hm, well you were at the page to put in the shopping cart. the map, which covers only the 23 central wards, is itself is about $1000.00 so am guessing not really worth it to you. or is it?

google-quality is alright? google actually is mostly english for much of tokyo as long as you don't zoom in too much.

you can use this version if you want just a wee bit more english than google offers:

or this one, which gives the satisfaction of an odd and colorful name:

good luck

Try www.cben.net they may have one but not sure about accuracy.

Oddly, the Bureau of Waterworks Department of the Tokyo Metropolitan government is English friendly!

Since Waterworks deals with sewage, water and flood plains... they more than likely will have a survey map or might even help you to contact that planner or GIS professional within the Tokyo Metro Government who has the file you will need!
