I.D. was truly unique in its coverage and perspective, and it will be missed. As a side note, Bruce Nussbaum has an interesting take in Businessweek/Innovation today about the demise of I.D. and the shrinking of US periodicals in general.

I think more may fold in the next year:

Here's my list of architecture related mags on life-support:

Dwell: The best of the nests has become a shadow of its former self (in size, content, and editorial perspective).

Architect: Arch Record really needs someone to keep it honest. I had hoped the transition from Architecture (R.I.P) would provide that alternate view, but it never really got off the ground, in my view.

Residential Architect: I really like this little freebie, but the market may not come back in time.

Metropolis (I have been a subscriber for a decade, and I almost cried a couple of months back when it shrank from its oversized, non-conformist format to its current pedestrian size....Sigh)

Any others on the watch-list?

i heard today that magazine was dead back in june. i think metropolis will survive, especially given the death of ID. what's interesting are magazines like Mark and Frame, those magazines are phenomenal.

Frame is quite possibly the best magazine I have ever seen.
