Funny, Miles, I was thinking the same thing, but it turns out the Empire State Building has limestone cladding, not brick. The Chrysler Building is actually the tallest brick clad building.
I wouldn't build 30' single wythe brick load bearing wall. But the masonry institute of Michigan did it some 20-25 years ago.
Seriously, if you need to ask this question, you need to explain what your frame is. Most euro load bearing masonry buildings seem to be a terra cotta structure w brick face and top out at 6ish stories.
This is one of those "if you have to ask you aren't ready for the answer" questions.
What structural frame would a multi-storey brick building have?
Let's say it's 8 stories?
How high can a brick veneer building go?
The frame would either be steel, wood, concrete or just brick I guess.
Consulting starts @ $250 an hour plus expenses and 1/2 time for travel.
Height is only limited by your client's budget.
As high as your imagination which sounds like about 8 stories.
Sounds like you should do some Building Technologies reading. For reference:
Fundamentals of Building Construction: Materials and Methods by Edward Allen and Joseph Iano
They still build with Masonry Brick?
I think it is Urban Legend....
How high can a brick veneer building go? Duh.
@Miles Jaffe
How on earth do they re-point all the joints on that, it's stupid.
@gruen By far, the most useful answer out of the lot. Thank you.
Yes, they still build in Brick in Europe, timber construction is not popular here.

My bad. But at least I was close. :)
Tallest brick clad building...There you go...sounds like a challenge! lol
beat it by one course of brick...that would be a real dick move. lol
Given enough steel relief angles, your crappy brick veneer can reach the sky, in thirty-foot increments.
Philly City Hall 548'
Tallest Masonry Structure Anaconda Smelter Stack, Anaconda Montana 585'
Marmite now you can go all Anaconda on us!
Anaconda Montana sure got slutty, didn't she?
@ Miles Jaffe
yeah duh.

^ I was pointing out that there is no height limit for brick veneer; every thirty feet vertical gets a relief angle.
