STATEMENT OF INTENT

hankd

WHERE CAN I GET ADVICE ON WHAT TO INCLUDE IN MY PERSONAL STATEMENT AND HOW TO INCLUDE IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK TO WRITE ABOUT. ARE THERE BOOKS OR WEBSITES OUT THERE WITH ANY ADVICE ON THIS? I'VE TRIED SEARCHING BUT CANNOT FIND ANY. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Also, if anyone here wishes to share theirs with me, I'll be delighted. Please email me.

I wouldn't copy it, of course, for that would be too easy to find out and my future would be ruined. I just need a general idea of the kind of stuff to include.

That, or just give me a summary of what you wrote about.

By default, I would have originally just talked about my past and my love for design, anecdotes and all, and then tie this in with some general prose about how I could connect this with architecture (nothing specific) ... but from what I've read and learned, this would be insubstantial material. So what would count as substantial then?

do everything you said, add in specific research interests which tie in with what the particular school offers, be specific about why the school is perfect for you

talk about a specific course you are interested in

don't say you love design

don't say "i've always wanted to be an architect"

don't talk about how well rounded you are, talk about what you do that is relevant to your graduate interests

don't waste space repeating what is already in the rest of your application
