You have to add a visibility parameter in the Tracking view, its under the object parameters, depending on your version of max you may have to add a visibility track.

3DsMAX - Animate layers/objects ON or OFF?
seems like a simple task but doesnt seem to be able to animate layers or objects ON or OFF.....??
anyone know how this can be simply done??
