Is anyone going to the Acadia 09 conference in Chicago next week? Or has anyone been to a previous conference? I just found out about it today and wanted to get some advice as to whether it's worth the (kind of) steep admission prices. They are also having workshops with grasshopper, generative components, processing and others, but it looks like the good ones are sold out already.
And there is also a student discount for groups of 5 so if there's anyone else interested in going maybe we could get that discount...
I was involved in the Acadia conference last year (at the University of Minnesota) and it was a great experience and I'm going this year. I think it's definitely worth the cost for anyone working in the intersection of digital technology and architecture.
i wish i could go! but i 1) totally cannot afford it 2) have to be at my non-arch survival job all week (which, btw, i am not complaining about)
although i don't see information about this on the site, does anyone know if there's going to be a webcast, or something, at least of the lectures? i'm guessing the twitter posts will leave something to be desired
I attended last year's ACADIA conference in MN and it was quite well executed with a lot of great content. There was a good mix of both academic and professional work.
I will be a presenter this year. You can find some info on my blog:
I had plans fall through with a friend. If anyone has a lead for a place to crash in Chicago during the conference, please let me know. I'll be in town from the 21st to the 25 th. Many thanks. aaronwestre.com
