Please dont get me wrong....perhaps saying Revit sucks was a bit harsh....I love technology...hell I live in Silicon Valley and am a PM with the 9th largest Architecture and Urban Planning firm in the world....technology is my friend...however...I think Revit has been great during the schematic phase, in fact it has helped our clients understand and approve weeks earlier than before using Revit. A great thing in these fucked up economic times...but I find Revit slows me down in CD phase, the need for 3D modeling of components, etc...during cd phase is pretty much none...unless perhaps you are one of those who cant see in 3D in your minds eye.
Revit sucks as much as NCARB sucks as much as licensure sucks as much as Rhino sucks as much as classical architecture sucks as much port-modern architecture sucks as much as starchitecture sucks as much as modernism sucks as much as Le Corbusier sucks as much as suburnaism sucks as much as urbanism sucks as much as bipartisan politics sucks as much as socialistic property law sucks as much as global warming sucks as much as global warming deniers sucks as much as myself sucks as much as your coworkers sucks as much as your boss sucks as much as you do.
Everything pretty much sucks except cherry coke and scotch, degrading hookers, punching strangers in the face, abusing seniors for social security checks, jerking off with a little spit mixed with cocaine and big fat blunts.
I love Revit for CD's. Everything is in one file more or less. Dimensioning, tagging, notation is all better/easier in Revit. I just wish the graphics were a bit easier to control. Oh and I can plot everything at once which is extra awesome.
For all matters concerning Revit sucking, one should always search the threads...Revit has been sucking for about 6 to 8 years now, yet it increasingly popular confounding old farts and cad monkeys throughout the world.
Although...3 larger firms in my area have decided that quality graphics, and higher profit margins were more important than drinking the Revit Kool Aid...and have gone back to regular autocad....Its nice though that Autodesk has so many firms paying for the opportunity to work out the beta bugs out for them....I agree with the person who has issues with the graphics. They are terrible.
Revit sucks!
Revit for CD's...= the fingernails on the chalkboard of my soul!
please. it's not that difficult.
I dont have a problem with difficultly so much as it's dumbing down the whole process....I dont want the playing field leveled.
Here we go again.
i won't go as far as starting a new thread... but i've moved back to autocad for some projects... and I can honestly say...
autocad sucks!
where's the first year architecture student chiming in with, "hand drafting sucks!"
Many schools have phased-out hand drafting.
send those maylines my way; i'm considering a neo-luddite practice.

Well...thats one way of looking at things.....thanks for putting it all in perspective.

Firms that aren't using REVIT = Ass backward neanderthals.
