I am looking into MArch programs for the Fall 2010 semester, and was wondering if anyone has attended or knows of a program specializing in Design Build practice. My current Interest lies in the University of Utah because of its Design Build BLUFF program, the University of Washington with its offerings of construction management pairing with Architecture studies, the University of Texas and its abroad D/B opportunities, and the University of British Columbia for its international study programs. If anyone out has additional information on any of these schools, or can point me toward other options for specific Design Build study, I would love to hear it. Thanks.
i go to uw as an undergrad. what is unique here is that the cm department is under the college of built environments, alongside arch, urban planning, l. arch, etc. most schools have construction management or design build in the engineering/business schools. so that makes the CM here more architecture-ish, and the architecture more construction management-ish, i think.
i'm not doing the "double degree", but the college stresses, or boasts, that it is a competitive advantage to have knowledge of both sides. and that they are the first ones to have jobs.
from what I know, the UW CM department is quite good at a national level. I'm taking an intro class right now...the profs are pretty good, even considering that i have somewhat a lack of interest in the subject.
lots of elective classes to take in the cm department.
let me know if you have any specific questions.
oh yeah, there's a really nice wood/metal shop here too!

Off the top of my head, I know the following schools have programs w/ a design-build empasis:
Kansas
Arkansas
Auburn
The Auburn program looks pretty interesting due to the collaboration between the Arch school and Building Science program.
Parsons-NYC-David Lewis (LTL Architects)-The Design Workshop
I am a Margaretville 2007 Alum
By the way....I love Samuel Mockbee...He inspired me to do the Design/Build option. It was crazy but it was well worth it.

Let me try the link again:

I think all the "UT design/build abroad opportunities" left UT last year when Sergio left UT.
