Illinois new Energy Law...

dsc_arch

In August Illinois made into law IECC 2009. Furthermore, they have expanded it to ALL structures (read residential) and removed Home Rule from the local governments regarding this issue.

Beside being 16% more stringent, there is a new contractor certification form that requires the contractor to sign off that he installed devices per plan!

I have been talking to some code officials this week. They are looking into adopting the new code new code and may eventually be requiring it.

They are missing the clause that it is mandatory state wide code effective now.

It really makes me look bad when I tell a client that it is a requirement and then, based on price and scope, they go to another less reputable firm who says it is not required and the city lets it go.

No in about three different places north of the city.

We have lost three deals this month over this too.

i am for a state building code with STATE inspectors.

Also worse inspectors I have ever had were licensed architects. Go figure.
