Please excuse this thread if it has been covered....countless times. I am really looking for a specific answer between two schools. Anyone that is willing to help, Thanks! in advance.
I graduated from SUNY Delhi with my A.A.S in Architectural Technology, which is an unaccredited program. Delhi just recently opened a 2+2 program where students can continue to receive a Bachelors of Technology in Architecture. I chose not to pursue it because the program is so new and Delhi is not an accredited school. Although my professor at Delhi guaranteed us all we could enter into any M.Arch program at other university.....
So I left Delhi and now I'm enrolled into Northeastern University's 5 year architecture program, but from what I have been hearing, this program does not give you a Bachelor in Architecture. Instead you get a Bachelors of Sciences, majoring in Architecture. In order to get an Architecture degree you must stay one more year at Northeastern, then you are granted a Masters of Science in Architecture.
This is all very very confusing to me and is one of the few reasons I am considering doing something else besides architecture (that and the workload lol), even though I truly enjoy it and can't see myself doing anything else. Northeastern is an awesome school but I want to make sure I am getting a good degree, and if I would be able to work with just their Bachelors of sciences degree. If not, does anyone think going back to Delhi for another two years would be more beneficial than staying here another five. Cost would be a HUGE difference for one.
firstly let me state that I'm not American, nor am I registered in the US. That said Zahu I think I can point you in the right direction. The NAAB (National Architectural Accreditation Board) has a listing of all schools in the US that offer professional degrees in architecture - dubbed accredited schools.
As I interpret it, any student at an institution outside of that listing would require them to undertake a professional degree (B.Arch or M.Arch only) from an accredited school to satisfy the basic qualification towards registration as an architect.
there are other means but... that's a different thread.
specific to your problem Northeastern University although offering a pre-professional degree allows you to satisfy an additional 32 credits towards a professional degree. However the accreditation does not extend to their graduate programme so it may require you to go somewhere else.
good luck
