I have constructed a stepped bowl of sorts (stepped like an amphitheater) in rhino and am having trouble trimming or splitting this object into different shaped pieces in plan. Any advice? I am getting some weird and unexpected results so any input would be appreciated.

try splitting instead of trimming
convert the cut lines into surfaces, and trim/split your object with the surfaces
there's a newer command "createsolid" that might work w/ sparch's suggestion.
I used a single line profile for the revolve (as opposed to one turning into a solid) and it worked out with split. Thanks for the help!
