So what can you tell me...I have a box sitting on my desk unloaded...cause I don't want to load if I don't have to. It does buy me time for future upgrades. Since my last upgrade was in 2007. What dawg would you have in your house 2007-2010?
fairly updated in terms of functions, tools, but retains the minimal interface that is so desirable in these times of horse shit vista-esque interfaces.
Definitely check to see how many years/versions autodesk honors for upgrade pricing v. new copy pricing.
I'd purchased a couple of copies of LT'04, and then a year later a couple more of LT'05. When I went to upgrade everyone to LT'08, I found that as of a few weeks earlier Autodesk was no longer considering LT'04 an upgrade, so had to by brand new full price copies for those two workstations rather than the cheaper upgrade versions.
Those bastards.
Also, one thing that I really miss in LT'08 is xref clipping, which is now available to LT.
2007 is the cut off for upgrading to 2010..... So 2010 is sitting in a box waiting to be loaded....but as you say...with Crap you make Crap!
I think this should be the New Auto Desk buy line.
Don't do it, I work with an architect who decided to make the upgrade and he hates it. We work together a lot. I had the same option to upgrade but choose not to. He has had all kinds of problems including xref's at come in with weird default settings and confusing new icons on toolbars (he's a picker). I'm glad I continued to use 08. i adjusted his save as settings so that he automatically saves files in my format.
I'm headed back to school now and I'm thinking about trying to ween myself off Acad and towards some cheaper more open source option. Has anybody worked on a cad system that interfaces easily between Acad, multiple versions. Something that you could use in the middle of an office full of Acad users and they would not be able to tell when they opened a file you worked on?
I think this is all a plot for autodesk to move to revit. We were forced to move from 2004 lt to 2008lt. the next iteration my be revit. or retirement.
Take a look at Bricscad V9. Free 30-day fully functioning trial. Everything Autocad LT has AND LISP at about 1/3 the cost of LT. Familiar user-interface and DWG file compatibility with Autocad DWG thru 2009, with 2010 DWG compatibility slated for first quarter 2010.
compatibility....is always a questionable thing. I hate seeing messages popping up...and odd sorts of starwar things happening to drawings when you open them, so you spend the whole morning trying to figure out what you have to do to either delete them or fix them.
autocat lt 2010
