I have planned a week and half trip in the north of Italy and besides all the historical spots, and 2 days in Venice. What other recommended stops for contemporary architecture is in the area. So far I have been tagging them on google maps and would like other suggested stops. I will have car, so getting anywhere will not be a problem.
Noticed you tagged Zumthor's Therme Vals, too. it is well worth the perilous drive through the Alps and lives up to all the pictures you've seen of the project. Awesome building....
As long as you're driving through the canton of Ticino in Switzerland, you should swing by Mendrisio and check out the Accademia di Architettura. This is where Zumthor, Botta, Olgiati, and Snozzi (among others) are teaching now.
Don't miss Terragni's Monument to the Fallen in Como, I would recommend viewing it at night for maximum awe.
there is a lot in ticino worth seeing. at a minimum i would recommend the better botta projects and stopping off in bellinzona to see the work of galfetti.
if you are headed to venice, there are a few scarpa projects in verona (castelvecchio a must) that you can visit. and vincenza (palladio) might be a decent stop over as well...
