Head IDP is run by AIA. How promising is this? What exactly does this programme do? Has anyone applied for this? Could this be a way to dodge the misfortune of layoffs and unemployment? OMG so many fricking questions...
IDP is essentially just a way of keeping track of your experience, so that NCARB can verify whether or not you are ready to take your exams. when you have completed the IDP training credits, they allow you to start taking the ARE which is how you get your license. it won't get you any advantages in terms of employment, unless for some reason a firm is looking for younger employees to invest in.
Le Bossman: Definitely, I believe it is not the time for firms to invest in recent graduates, right? Yet, it is just another sad reality for the recent graduates being ignored and lose both time and opportunity to learn and gain experiences. Its the same situation here in New Zealand as well. I understand AIA/NZIA can't do much about being vulberable to this fluctuating economny, but really, who do or can we/graduates have to rely on when we have nothing but few months of internship experience and academic knowledge?

* btw sometimes you can take exams while completing IDP
IDP is no secret society. In fact, if you Google it, the first thing to come up is the official homepage that explains exactly what it is.
