Not all the "Great Architects" live in the "Great Cities of the World"
It's hard to believe I know, I know...
There are many GREAT architects who choose to live outside of the mainstream, stereotypical path of the successful architect - and I'd like to identify some of those here.
I don't think they have to be famous or even be alive...but would reflect some of the ideals (or trends) of "Great Architecture"
David Salmela, FAIA is located in a small town in Minnesota. He has no formal training as an architect. His houses are really fantastic...a lot of Finnish inspited details.
GREAT Small Town Architects!
Crazy times - Crazy ideas...
Not all architects wear black
Not all architects work 60 hours/ week
Not all the "Great Architects" live in the "Great Cities of the World"

Here are a few that quickly come to mind:
Fay Jones, Fayettville, AR
Marlon Blackwell, Fayettville, AR
Randy Brown Architects, Omaha, NE
Samuel Mockbee, Auburn, AL
Carney Architects, Jackson Hole, WY
Price Harrison, Nashville, TN
Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, New Orleans, LA
Peter Zumthor, Haldenstein, Switzerland
That's not crazy. In fact, there is another current thread on this very subject.
and just for clarification, sambo never practiced in auburn, alabama. as a matter of fact, he maybe spent 1 day a year there.
