Do you place numbers in each of the spaces and then a corresponding key with the name of each space or do you write directly on the plan the name of the space? Which way looks more professional / would be easier to read in a portfolio?
Whichever reads best for the scale of the drawing in your portfolio. Smaller drawings would get the number and list, larger the names directly on the drawing.

If you want to make a floor plan for a portfolio use revit sheets and turn them into a jpeg.
